I found myself playing more games to escape the quarantine life. Here are a couple of the games I started and completed over the past few months.
I'll preface this with : I don't play video games as often as I used to, or as often as I'd like. It's a guilt I carry about not using that time to get something done, create something, but as COVID kicked us all into quarantine in late February (and I had already been working at home for a full year) I found myself looking for a healthy mental escape from my home and work space.
I chased those end world vibes and jumped right into this post-apocalyptic world. Death Stranding is a game I purchased back in the fall of 2019 but had left, unopened, due to : see the paragraph above. This is the first game I have completed in years, since Uncharted 3. From the get-go I was sucked into this world of reconnecting the broken United Cities of America.
I loved playing as Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus), packing cargo, delivering supplies, and fending off the upside down with my BB on board. Every detail of this game is flawless and the soundtrack, so beautiful, I recently picked it up on vinyl from Mondo. I may have pre-ordered some vinyl Death Stranding action figures as well. I may be obsessed.
I've been a fan of this series since the beginning. I love these characters and the fantasy of exploring the world for lost treasure. I had started A Thief's End a couple years ago when it first released, but then didn't finish it due to... yeah, see the first paragraph. After finishing the story in Death Stranding I picked this one back up and had a great time completing it over the past couple weeks.
Uncharted : The Lost Legacy
Horizon Zero Dawn
(yeah, just catching up)
and looking forward to:
Ghost of Tsushima
Below are some favorite moments I captured in Death Stranding and Uncharted 4.
